INTRODUCTION
Character Viewer is a Windows program that can be used to view characters containing within a font. Using Character Viewer, you can view characters base on font name or character set.
Character viewer can display the character sets supported by a particular font name, or display font names that support a particular font set. It can display the ascii code associated with the selected character in decimal, binary, octal, and hexadecimal. To easily insert selected character in document, you can copy the selected character into Windows clipboard.

Character Viewer works with all 32 bit versions of Windows.
Character Viewer can be downloaded as a zip file which contains the setup file, or as a zip file which contains all needed files to run it.
If the one with setup file is downloaded, to install, extract the downloaded file into a temporary directory, and run the SETUP.EXE. Follow the steps to install.
To uninstall, use the Add/Remove program from Control Panel.
Character Viewer actually does not need special installation routine. If the downloaded file is the one without setup routine, to install, extract the downloaded file into one directory (this will be the working directory for Character Viewer, so it is better to make a new directory for that), then run the CHVIEWER.EXE to run Character Viewer.
To uninstall, delete all files which come with the zip file.
Using Character Viewer is very simple. When you run it, it displays characters in table. Use mouse or keyboard to navigate among characters.
There are 2 tabs on top of the window: Fonts and Char Set. The fonts tab displays the characters base on font name. The Char Set tab displays the characters base on character set.
In fonts tab, characters are displayed base on font name. the Fonts combo box displays all fonts installed in your computer. When you select different font name, all character sets supported by that particular font name are displayed on Char Sets combo box. In Char Set tab, the characters are displayed base on character set. The Char Sets combo box displays all character sets supported by all fonts installed in your computer. When you select different character set, all fonts that supports that particular character set are displayed in Fonts combo box.
To navigate among characters on table, use arrow keys. These keys allow you to move on one line or column. To move continuously between lines, use TAB or SHIFT+TAB keys.
In addition, the following shortcuts can be used to access particular control:
To put a character into the copied character box, double click the character on the table. To copy the characters on the box into clipboard, use the copy button. You can also copy the selected font name and character set by using the copy button. To copy selected character name, right click on status bar.
